The new and independent alternative to Black Friday is Colour Friday! Brighten up your Christmas shopping by choosing colourful, characterful, local independent shops this year. Colour Friday is part of Campaign Shop Independent, the brainchild of Holly Tucker MBE (original founder of Not on the High Street) and supported by Natwest, Dell and Royal Mail. This Christmas, she's shouting from the rooftops to encourage the nation to shop thoughtfully, independently and colourfully. This means shining a light on the magnificent colour and creativity that independent businesses bring to the UK and asking you to swap some of your usual Christmas spend to small shops instead.
Holly says "Over 90% of the adults polled in our independent research said they care about the future of small independent businesses in the UK. But caring about the future is not enough, which is why we've launched Colour Friday as a brighter alternative to Black Friday to encourage customers everywhere to think about the impact of their spending, showcasing the difference that even one extra gift could make."
Almost a third of people start their Christmas shopping on Black Friday. Colour Friday is a day which gives everyone a moment to choose a better way, an alternative way and pledges their money not for a world that's hooked on meaningless discounts, but for a community of small businesses which bring colour to grey.
