About

The shop at Narborough Hall began as an Art Gallery/Craft Shop in 1992. Sophie’s parents, Wendy & Paul Broadley bought the house back in 1976 as a dilapidated wreck, and have spent three decades sympathetically restoring the building. They set the business up to help contribute towards the costs of the upkeep of the 400 year old building and enable them to maintain their family home here. Initially only open three days a week, the business has evolved enormously over the years. Now open seven days, Wendy & Paul still live at Narborough Hall and are amazed at how it’s grown from their original idea.

We now stock a huge and diverse range of gifts, jewellery and home accessories, from well known brands to new designer-makers. We’re constantly innovating and looking for exciting new products to keep those regulars amongst you excited and interested. We hope you like it!

Meet our Team:
We have a very friendly team of dedicated staff and customer service is our top priority.

Sophie & Simon
I still remember the excitement of opening up our first delivery and the thrill of putting it out on our brand new shelves. Back in the dim and distant past when we first opened Narborough Hall I had no idea that it would become my career but then I was only 16 and just about to begin at sixth form college.
Two years of A levels and lots of Saturdays behind the till later, I packed my bags for Sheffield University and three years of Archaeology and Prehistory. On the first night in the union bar I met Simon (a law undergraduate at the time) and that was that.
We graduated in 1996, Simon decided that a lifetime of law was a pretty unpleasant prospect and I decided that there were very few jobs and even less money in archaeology, so back home to mum and dad for me and Simon seemed to tag along too. We started trawling the papers for jobs, and in the meantime amused ourselves by messing about in the shop.
And, it started to work… soon it seemed ridiculous to even think about other jobs, we were loving what we were doing and it seemed the customers loved it too.
And we’re still loving it now, twelve years later.

Glenda
Glenda was the first member of staff to come and work with us at Narborough Hall. Back in 1996 she began working one day a week… these days she works full-time and is our back-bone. We’d never manage without her and often joke that we’d have to close if she ever left us! She loves all things vintage and anything featuring black cats!

Kate
Kate came to us on a week’s work experience when she was 14. After that she worked weekends while she was still at school. Now she’s completed her A-Levels she’s come to join us full-time. Always immaculately attired and perfectly groomed, she spends most of her wages on clothes and has more Narborough Hall jewellery than Narborough Hall!

Sarah
Sarah is our newest recruit, and currently works school hours to fit around her two young children. She’s settled into our little team really well.
